Preseason Bold Predictions Revisited: AFC EAST

The NFL season is at its half way point and it seems just like yesterday we were making our bold preseason predictions for this year. As the season continues at a relentless pace we wanted to revisit our preseason predictions. Find out in this 8-part series what we got wrong, what we got right, as well as a new bold prediction for the second half of the season. We will start with the AFC East which has had no shortage of surprises, even if Buffalo is the dominant force we all knew it would be.

Buffalo Bills

Original Prediction: James Cook finishes as a top 15 PPR Back

Currently- Cook hasn’t gotten involved much in this Bills offense and Devin Singletary has remained their RB 1. Any hope of Cook being more involved in the second half was all but washed away when the Bills traded for Nyheim Hines at the deadline. If the rookie is going to break out it will likely come during his sophomore campaign.

New Prediction - Gabe Davis, who is currently WR37, will continue to move up the leaderboards now that he is healthy. He will finish in the top 20 WRs, and his boom weeks will far outweigh his bust weeks.

New England Patriots

Original Prediction -Rhamondre Stevenson finishes as a top 15 PPR Back

Currently - Rhamdondre is currently sitting at RB7 on the season and has easily surpassed my expectation. He has seemingly taken over the Patriot's backfield and is as safe as any RB in fantasy at this point in the season.

New Prediction - We’re DOUBLING DOWN on this one. Not only will Rhamondre finish top 15, but we are also upping the ante and believe he will finish as a top 3 RB at the end of the season.

Miami Dolphins

Original Prediction - Miami Dolphins - Jaylen Waddles finishes ranked higher than Tyreek Hill

Currently - Jaylen Waddle has been better than advertised, but unfortunately for our predictions, so has Tyreek Hill. Tyreek currently sits at WR1 overall and Jaylen Waddle is right behind him at WR5. This has been with both of them battling injuries and with Tua in and out of the lineup. This one may not work out, even if Waddle is surpassing expectations.

New Prediction - Tua Tagovailoa will finish as a top 10 Fantasy QB on the season. As it currently stands Tua sits at QB18 on the season, but his PPG is good enough for QB7. Tua has the weapons to continue climbing the charts and as long as he stays healthy this will be

New York Jets

Original Prediction - Elijah Moore finishes as a top 10 WR

Currently - This is one of the worst of the preseason predictions. Elijah Moore is currently outside of the top 80 and has requested a trade that wasn’t granted. He also missed a week as a healthy scratch. The future looks bleak for Moore in New York.

New Prediction - Garrett Wilson, currently WR 32, will continue to climb up the rankings and finish as a top 20 WR. He’s clearly the top guy in this Jets offense and with Breece Hall on the sideline the rest of the season the Jets should be forced to be more pass-heavy than they currently are.

That’s it for the AFC East. Join us later today as we break down the AFC North. Make sure to leave your comments below, we would love to know what you love, what you hate, and what you think we’re completely out in left field on.
