Joey Chestnut Is Inevitable
It's 4th of July weekend and that means it's time for the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island. This thing has been a race for 2nd since 2008 and it will be again in 2023.
Joey Chestnut, the destoryer of dogs, the tank of franks, the mouth of the fourth...well that last one doesn't work but you get it. He'll be there defending his title and chasing history.
The odds of Chestnut winning are an astronomical -5000, meaning to win $100 you'd need to wager $5,000. A wonderful idea if you're washing money, but not great if you're trying to win some.
Instead, let's take a look at the total of 74.5 hot dogs. Seems impossible to us mortals, but Joey Chestnut crushed 76 last year. It was no fluke, because in years prior he ate 73.5, 74, and 75 dogs.
He has already said the goal this time is 77 hot dogs consumed, and I see no reason to doubt the legend. I certainly don't see him falling multiple franks short of his goal.
Over 74.5 hot dogs +135 for America, let's go!
